Am I the only one left wishing the dawn didn’t break…?

Despite arrive several years late for the Twilight fad, I finally joined the ranks of the coming of age vampire-human-shapeshifter/werewolf love story. Being a fervent Harry Potter aficionado, I welcomed the potential for a escapist fantasy with open arms, voraciously consuming the four books within the two weeks following the Amazon delivery.

Having seen the existing Twilight movies before buying the books - yes, I committed the sin of book lovers everywhere - I had medium expectations for the overall story, but I knew either way I would enjoy the distraction from real life. Well after having finished Rising Dawn, I must was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the “saga” quite a bit more than I anticipated, even despite some of the silliness. The first three books sucked me in - yup, vampire pun. Maybe I found a vacuum because I had already formed a relationship with the characters based on the movies (Edward will always be Robert Pattinson in my mind, no qualms there) or maybe because I’m simply a sucker for a love story.

Overall it was good, but Breaking Dawn was just plain awful. Cheesy and cliche all the way through. Of all the characters I found Bella to be the least believable, which is truly saying something when the majority of cast of characters are entirely mythical. On top of that she was whiney and wouldn’t die…

I am probably bitter because the story ended all too happily, but unlike just about every other book I have ever read I was not disappointed when I finally finished - I just couldn’t take another drop of twilight bullshit.
